Documentary Screening event hosted by ARMP!
On behalf of Afghan Refugee Mentorship Program, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in an important event on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 6:45 to 9 PM being held in the Johnson Center Cinema at George Mason University.
Please join us for the screening of Desperate, an eight-minute documentary produced by (and featuring) Afghan refugee students at Alexandria City High School. The documentary recounts their experiences leaving their homeland abruptly and beginning their new lives here in Northern Virginia. The young ladies associated with this production are also volunteer leaders in our youth literacy program held at William Ramsay Recreation Center. The event will also include a panel featuring the students along with other Afghan refugees associated with George Mason University. The event will conclude with a networking reception with tables set up containing information on how folks can get more involved with this issue.
GMU’s Global Affairs Program is also co-sponsoring this event.
Please register now for this FREE event and help us spread the word. Not only will you be inspired you will also help the producers accomplish their goal of spreading their important message. Feel free to re-post the poster or the sign-up link to social media.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Kindly,
Yenna Kwon
