Mission The Food Recovery Network at George Mason University (FRN GMU) seeks to recover leftover food from George Mason University’s dining halls, catering events, and food service venues and transport this surplus food safely to feed community members in need. The organization relies on student volunteers to help transport the food, increasing their awareness of issues of food waste and hunger. We also seek to raise awareness on campus about food waste, with the goal of reducing food waste as much as possible and promoting sustainability. Finally, we seek to recover food without inconveniencing or disturbing the proceedings of George Mason University’s dining services employees.
