The FSL Forum - First Edition!

Welcome Back! 

We hope that your semester is off to a good start! To kick off the semester we wanted to send you the first edition of the FSL newsletter. Every two weeks we will be sending you this newsletter with information about upcoming events, campus resources, and opportunities. 

The Student Support and Advocacy Center is recruiting for their next cohort of Peer Educators.

Peer educators are tasked with expanding SSAC’s primary and secondary prevention by facilitating workshops and programs. All peer educators receive training and support in leadership and health promotion and are Certified Peer Educators (CPE) with the program from the BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA! SSAC has three groups: the Body Liberation Collective, the Relationship Peer Leaders, and the Substance Use Peer Educators.

Students can apply for any of the programs by visiting: https://cglink.me/2d7/s71916. Students must be able to meet on Wednesday from 12-1 pm in order to participate in this program.

SSAC will be hosting a recruitment event called Pizza with the Peer Educators on September 7th from 12-1 pm in SUB 1 Room 3A. Students can RSVP via: https://cglink.me/2d7/r1629279.

SSAC Support Spaces

Patriots for Recovery is a program for Mason students who identify with being in recovery for a substance use, eating disorders/disordered eating, or other behavioral addictions. Interested students should email ssac@gmu.edu and a representative from the Student Support and Advocacy Center will get them connected to more information. We will be offering three groups, all underneath our Patriots for Recovery umbrella of support for students. Under this, SSAC is offering all recovery support, eating and body concerns group, and a healing lounge/unstructured self-care space.
