Registered Student Organization (RSO) Lead Team
2024-2025 Academic Year
General Description: These positions offer student leaders the opportunity to take on a leadership role that is outside of their membership in a registered student organization (RSO). Students in these roles will strive to further develop effective and essential leadership, marketing, and event planning skills.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled at George Mason University
- Must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be in good judicial standing with the university
- Must have a past or current officer role within a Registered Student Organization or Departmental Organization at George Mason University
- Must be able to commit to work 10 hours per week (including office hours and meeting time) and up to an additional five hours during peak times (RSO Lead Team retreats, Welcome2Mason Welcome Week, Get Connected Fairs, Winter Welcome Week, GAMEmason, International Week, Distinguished Quill Awards, and Bench Painting)
- Prior experience with leadership development, program and event planning, and conducting general student organization business (such as registration, applying for funding, reserving spaces, working with Sodexo, etc.)
- Ability to take initiative and thrive in a high-paced, dynamic, office atmosphere
- Must be self-motivated and driven to complete tasks
- Ability to develop meaningful relationships with others
- Must be able to work effectively independently as well as within a team
General Responsibilities Include:
- Attend all required RSO Lead Team trainings and retreats
- RSO/SFB Lead Team Training Retreat from 9:00am - 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 (dates subject to change)
- Student Involvement Core Leader Retreats from 9:00am-5:00pm on Monday, August 19th, 2024 and Friday, January 17th, 2025 (dates subject to change)
- Plan, coordinate, and effectively advertise all communication to RSOs including: Re- Registration, Distinguished Quill Awards, Bench Painting, iWeek events and other RSO Lead Team events
- Respond to the RSO Lead Team email account and maintain communication with all RSOs through Mason360, email, newsletters, virtual and in-person meetings
- Coordinate 1:1 meetings with RSOs and executive board student leaders
- Create and maintain a resource area for all RSOs to have access to information electronically and in Student Involvement
- Serve as a positive and professional student leader representative for Student Involvement
Compensation:
Compensation will be a total of $3,600.00 for the academic year (8/10/24 through 5/9/25). This positions pays $1,800.00 per semester. It is broken into payments semi-monthly throughout each academic semester. Winter break is excluded.
