Be a Part of Two New Traditions!

Student Involvement has two new ways to engage with new students at George Mason University, make an impact on the student experience, and help promote your organization!

This year at New Student Convocation, we are introducing new elements to make the experience more engaging and enjoyable.

The first is a parade of organizations, where RSO's and other student orgs will have the chance to parade through and around Eaglebank Arena with a custom flag banner ordered to represent their RSO. Following the Convocation, the organizations participating in the parade will have a bonus opportunity to table at the resource fair immediately following the New Student Convocation.

The second is a spoken word element, where students, faculty, staff, and alumni can share their best, most meaningful moment at George Mason University. Here is where you come in - We want you to contribute!

Deadline to register for both opportunities is Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 4pm.

Parade of Organizations

All organizations that sign up and participate in this unique and new opportunity will be the first to have a custom GMU flag banner, which is available to check out from the Student Involvement office for kiosking and events throughout the year.

Bonus Opportunity: Resource Fair

Following New Student Convocation, the organizations participating in the parade will have a bonus opportunity to table at the resource fair immediately following the ceremony.

Share a Meaningful Experience

Submit your Positive Statement on Mason360

We are looking for people willing to share one of their most memorable, meaningful experiences with new students as they begin their academic journey at George Mason University.

To participate, provide us with one or two sentences that sum up a positive experience you've had, a great relationship you've built, a friend you've made, an impactful internship, something you’ve learned that surprised you, or perhaps a conversation that bridged a gap.

Use the Mason360 form to submit your statement, and let us know if you’d like to READ your statement at New Student Convocation, or if you’d prefer someone else read it for you!
