What is Freedom Connection? Who are we and what do we do?

  • Mission

We are committed to eliminating modern-day slavery and exploitation by generating positive change on our campuses and in our communities.

Guided by our Values, we combat human trafficking through education, advocacy, and action. Through the work of anti-trafficking organizations and the lived experiences of survivors, we educate ourselves and others about human trafficking, slavery, and exploitation. We exercise and promote ethical consumerism at our university and with our partners. We work with local communities and anti-human trafficking organizations to create events and volunteer activities that inspire people to join our mission

  • Vision

We imagine a society free from slavery and exploitation.

We envision a supportive university organization and community network that combats the harm caused by human trafficking, ensures safety and dignity for all, and actively practices ethical consumerism.

  • Values

    DO NO HARM

We aim to provide factual and accurate information, based on research and education. We take responsibility for our messaging and consumerism in all our events and interactions. We are dedicated to portraying survivors of human trafficking with empathy and compassion. We never victim blame.

    GO towards P.E.A.C.E.:

    We are Goal-Oriented towards…

Partnership -- To eliminate modern slavery, we must work together.

We partner with organizations and survivors to better understand human trafficking, with an eye towards insightful and actionable change. We partner with the university and local communities to raise awareness and to ensure survivor advocacy. We are dedicated to constantly expanding our network to increase our impact.

Empathy -- We recognize the circumstances survivors faced and approach their testimonies with the aim to listen and learn without judgment.

Action -- We encourage others to support our mission by pursuing a deeper understanding of human trafficking, prevention awareness and volunteering.

Character -- We demonstrate integrity, honesty, respect, and accountability.

Education -- We take a multidisciplinary approach, accounting for the contextualized perspectives and forms of human trafficking, and the subsequent ways people are affected. We believe that, beyond textbooks, knowledge and understanding must be informed by the lived experiences of survivors and by anti-trafficking professionals.

Empower -- We promote survivor testimonies and magnify their stories, both to inspire other survivors to speak out, and to educate and empower our members to take action towards eradicating slavery and exploitation.
