We hope you all had a wonderful Spring Recess and are looking forward to the end of the Spring 2023 semester! We at Student Government have been hard at work throughout the month of April and May to bring some exciting new updates here at Mason Korea and the Incheon Global Campus, which we are thrilled to share.
- Mason Day 2023: On April 28, 2023, Mason Korea hosted one of its largest annual events to promote and spread the Mason spirit on-campus. Student Government members worked hard on and off-stage to prepare and organize not only the event itself, but also running its very own booth. We held various activities for students to take part in, such as Mason-themed tattoo stickers accompanied with jegichagi or magazine-guessing games, and an anonymous “Message in a Box” event. We will be uploading the latter on our Instagram stories, so please do keep an eye on our Instagram (@mk_stugov)!
- Second RE:SPECT Meeting Held at Mason Korea: RE:SPECT, or Incheon Youth Group (ýØ©ý▓£ý▓¡ÙàäÛÀ©Ùú╣) in Korean, is a collaborative initiative between Student Governments within Incheon-based universities in order to foster and promote various cultural events and interests of the youth in Incheon. After its inaugural meeting held in Incheon National University and the roundtable discussion with the Mayor of Incheon, Mason Korea hosted its second meeting to discuss the upcoming Incheon Youth Culture Road (ýØ©ý▓£ÙîÇÝòÖÙí£, tentative English name) and support the hosting of the Overseas Korean Office and 2025 APEC in Incheon. If you are interested in applying as a seller for the Flea Market for the event on May 27 (Sat), you may find the application link here: https://bit.ly/3nKhLbF
- International Student Identity Card and ID Card Redesign: We are continually working with our faculty and staff and external organizations to provide an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) option for our students and are in middle of working out an MOU. As for our redesigned ID Cards issued by IGC, we hope to recruit student, faculty, and staff members as part of our ID Card Redesign Committee very soon. We anticipate these two changes to take effect by the Fall 2023 semester.
- 2023 IGC Sports Day: Mason Korea Student Government alongside the IGC Student Union organized and planned this year’s IGC Sports Day on May 13, 2023, in the IGC Gym. We thank every athletic and performing student organization who attended the event for pulling off such great games and performances, Dean Matz and Associate Dean Chung for their opening remarks and award ceremony, and our students, faculty, and staff for coming to attend and cheer for our Patriots.
- Student Government MOUs: We are thrilled to announce that Student Government is in the middle of signing an MOU with a restaurant within Triple Street that many of our students visit. We hope to update you this week after we have signed our MOU!
- Spring 2023 Student Government Elections: With our completed transition to Student Government, introducing the Student Senate, we will now be having three additional positions within the Senate open to only freshmen and first-semester transfer students as to ensure a more equitable form of student government. We anticipate applications for the Election Committee and Student Government to be opened within this month.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know!
