Attending the National Convention was an incredible introduction to Theta Tau on a bigger scale for me as a new member who joined in Spring 2025. I learned a great deal about the fraternity’s operations and gained insight into both chapter responsibilities and regional opportunities. The breakout sessions were helpful and I’m excited to bring these tips back to my chapter at George Mason University and help us grow beyond our current members.

As a rising sophomore, Theta Tau has already been a meaningful part of my college experience. Our Vice President, who was also my RA, became a mentor and helped me navigate campus life and resources.

Nationals also gave me the chance to connect with members from chapters across the country, including Kappa Gamma (VCU), where my older brother is an alumnus. I met new friends from California, Nevada, and beyond, and I’m hoping to keep building those relationships and maybe even invite them to visit our campus.

During Spring 2024, I had the chance to travel to Flagler Beach, Florida, for a Habitat for Humanity service trip, and it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had in Theta Tau so far. Not only did we get to contribute to an incredible cause, but we also had the chance to bond with other chapters from across the country, including brothers from VT, CBU, Toledo, and ODU. From the moment we arrived, there was an immediate sense of brotherhood. It felt like we’d known each other for way longer than just a few hours.

Each day brought something new: cutting siding, caulking, nailing trim, and though the work was tough, the camaraderie made it worth it. After a long day on-site, we’d cool off at the beach or grab food together and swap stories. One of my favorite moments was sitting around with everyone after work, just talking and laughing about shared experiences. That was when the true spirit of our fraternity really hit me.

Even with a few unexpected weather challenges, the trip was a huge success. It was a perfect mix of service, connection, and fun (and I know I’m not the only one already looking forward to the next one).

Theta Tau has opened more doors for me than I could have ever imagined. During my time as a member of the Xi Delta Chapter at George Mason University, I’ve had the honor of serving two terms as the Atlantic Region Student Advisory Committee Representative and holding nearly every leadership position within my chapter. I’ve also been fortunate to receive a scholarship to attend the Leadership Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, participate in the National Conventions in both 2023 and 2025, and got hired to be a Convention Intern.

By attending all of these regional and national events, I have made so many connections with other members of Theta Tau, both students & alumni!! These experiences have not only shaped me academically, but they’ve also helped me grow tremendously as a leader and individual. When I first joined Theta Tau, I never could have envisioned all the opportunities I’d take part in. I’m deeply grateful for everything this fraternity has given me, and I look forward to staying involved and continuing to grow through Theta Tau long after graduation.

Our Annual Spring Brotherhood Retreat was one of the most memorable Theta Tau experiences I’ve had. We were joined by the Kappa Gamma Chapter (VCU), and the weekend was packed with everything from movie marathons and tie-dye projects to bracelet-making and an unforgettable trip to Luray Caverns. It was the perfect mix of fun, adventure, and bonding. I'm not sure if you've ever planned a trip for 30 college kids, but I truly commend our events chair for planning such a fantastic trip 2 years in a row.

One of my favorite moments was just relaxing around the fire or in the hot tub after a full day with brothers from both chapters. Even as a graduating senior, the sense of connection I felt that weekend inspired me to stay involved and give back to the chapter through a scholarship. I’m so grateful for the friendships and memories, and I can’t wait to see future retreats continue this tradition.
