Convocation Video Project

Letter to potential students:

George Mason University Student Involvement and the Office of the Provost are embarking on a project with GMU TV to create a video that will be shown at GMU New Student Convocation on August 23, 2024.  For this project we are looking for students who can tell a personal story that exemplifies the idea of stepping out of your comfort zone by engaging with others who you perceived to be different from you in some important way.

We are looking for GMU students that can speak on two big themes:

  1. George Mason has an incredibly wide variety of opportunities for students to get involved, become a part of a community, and find a sense of belonging. You can find your community, no matter who you are.

  2. Diversity lets you learn and grow in ways you never anticipated, when you engage with – rather than avoid – others who are different from you. Being able to engage with people who are different is increasingly important in the world today.

An interest form has been created, and the link to this is below.

We are looking for students who have availability to be on campus at some point between July 22 and August 2 for a videotaping session.

If you feel that you have an important story to tell about themes listed above, please complete the above form by Sunday, July 21.

Please feel free to email sa@gmu.edu if you have any questions, and please use the subject line “Convocation Video”.
