Going Virtual
By now, you all may have heard the word "Virtual" one too many times when it comes to engaging with one another. What does this actually mean? What could this look like? Mason FSL has gathered some tips and tricks to help you engage with your members and host virtual events during this unprecedented time.
Engaging with Members
During this time of social distancing, it is important more than ever to be able to engage with your membership. Here are some suggestions for virtual member engagement:
1. Instagram Story Templates - Instagram (IG) has grown to become one of the largest social media platforms in the world, and now it can be used as a tool to help connect one another. IG Story templates are a great way to get to know your members more: you can add questions about how they relax, what their favorite songs are, hobbies, etc. For an example of an awesome IG Story template, check out the Panhellenic Council's IG account (@masonpanhellenic)!
2. Netflix Party Movie Nights - Netflix Party is an extension through the Google Chrome Internet Browser that allows you to join some of your friends in virtual movie nights with a chat feature. (Click here to learn more about Netflix Party) A great idea is to host a virtual movie night with your members using Netflix Party. Just remember that everyone needs a Netflix account in order for this to work!
Do you or your chapter have an awesome idea or concept to keep your members or prospective members engaged? We'd love to hear about it and have you featured in the next issue of The Weekly! Send your ideas and a picture (if applicable) to Hammed Sirleaf at hsirleaf@gmu.edu!
