Join us for the 2026 W.E.B. Du Bois Lecture, hosted by the African and African American Studies Program and the Department of History at George Mason University.
Featuring Dr. Thavolia Glymph, this lecture examines how the Civil War shaped the lives of Black women and children, an often overlooked aspect of its legacy. While historians have detailed the war’s human toll and the uneven arrival of freedom, this talk brings attention to the experiences that remain less visible in traditional scholarship.
