Officer track · Rolling applications
AIA is entirely student-run. Officers plan the calendar, work with partner firms, and lead programs.

Run internship programs and competitions from kickoff to recap.
Open roles
Each director role has two tiers. Junior Director seats are for new officers, and Senior Director seats are for officers returning for another term. The tiers reflect officer experience, not your class year: freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students are all encouraged to apply.

How it works
Be an AIA Associate with at least one semester of active membership and a 3.1 GPA or higher.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The form asks for your contact information, class year, major, GPA, the role(s) you’re interested in, and a brief statement on why you’re qualified.
Officers are chosen by majority vote in officer elections, held each spring from late March to early April.
New officers receive a handover of role files and accounts, shadow the outgoing officer, and begin their one-year term following spring elections.
Before you apply
Any currently enrolled George Mason student, of any major or class year, can apply. Officer candidates must be AIA Associates with at least one semester of active membership and a 3.1 GPA or higher. Majors such as economics, finance, accounting, and business analytics have historically been strong fits for our roles.
No. Finance experience is not required to become a member. However, knowledge of finance and the alternative investment space will help you stand out as an applicant for the opportunities AIA offers.
Officer terms last one full calendar year, with elections held each spring (late March to early April). There are generally no term limits, with a few exceptions: Senior Directors may serve one term in their role, and the Information Systems & Technology Director may serve up to two terms.
Yes. You are welcome to express interest in more than one officer role. The one exception: a current director who chooses an automatic promotion to the Senior Director role may not apply for other positions.
