About Us
The African Policy Research Organization (APRO) at George Mason University is dedicated to building a community of student researchers that are passionate about the current affairs and politics of Africa. Our goal is to provide a forum for interested students to conduct research, share knowledge, and engage in dialogue related to issues on the African continent. Through collaboration with the student body, faculty, local organizations, and NGOs, APRO seeks to leverage all expertise and resources at our disposal to drive meaningful change. Core to our approach is a commitment to understanding the intricacies of African societies, beyond just explicitly political issues, and engaging with the diverse perspectives within the large African diaspora community at George Mason University. By building a community of dedicated researchers and learners, APRO aims to foster a deeper understanding, not just of states, but of people, nations, and cultures, ultimately contributing to a more thoughtful and inclusive discourse on African politics and affairs.
