Career Fair Tip 2: How to Introduce Yourself

Carollei McMillin - Monday, February 15, 2021
 Career Fair

We are 2 days away from the Spring Career Fair and today's tip is all about how to introduce yourself to employers!

Tip #2´©ÅÔâú Get Ready to Introduce Yourself

Your introduction, also known as a personal pitch, should focus on the basics: your name, your degree/major, your skills, and what you’re interested in learning from that employer.

Keep it short by sticking to a limit of 50 words, or less. Be sure to slightly tailor your introduction for each employer so you can focus on what they might be most interested in learning about you.

Pro-Tip: Knowing when to introduce yourself is just as important as how you do it. If a conversation is ongoing when you enter the room, wait your turn and consider using the Zoom function to "raise your hand" before joining in.

Get help with your introduction:

  • Download our worksheet for samples and a step-by-step guide to writing a great introduction.
  • Attend the Prepare for the Fair Workshop on Feb 15 (TODAY) for more examples and chances to practice.
