GMU Rocket League Fall 2024 Tryouts

*Rocket League Fall 2024 Tryout Information:

*Dates and Time:
-Sign-up Deadline: Sunday, August 11 @ 11:00 PM EST
-Tryout Dates: Monday, August 12th from 7-9 PM EST AND Tuesday, August 13th from 7-9 PM EST
(Depending on the number of signups, players may be expected to come on both Monday and Tuesday. If players are unavailable on one of the days they must let me know ASAP! It is highly recommended that you come to both tryout dates. Cuts may be made after the first day depending on the amount of players participating.)
-Tryouts will be conducted in the GMU Esports Discord server https://discord.gg/gmuesports

*Requirements/Recommended MMR Requirements:
-YOU MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT AT GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY! This requires you to take a minimum of 12 credits for the FALL 2024 semester, if you are not taking 12 credits you will not be accepted.
-GPA REQUIREMENT OF 2.0 MINIMUM! This does not apply to incoming freshmen, but you will be required to be in good academic standing.
-At the time of tryouts, one must be at least GRAND CHAMPION 1 in ranked 1's, 2's, or 3's to participate. If you are not please send me your RL Tracker to show that you've at least hit it in the past. If you are not currently at a Grand Champion 1 level, you have a lessened chance of making the team.
-Must be available 3 days a week for scheduled practices/games
-Must be able to communicate effectively in voice chat and text chat in Discord. Will be communicating often.
-Must be available for league matches. The leagues will be CRL, NACE, MAEC, and CCS.
-Must follow the player contracts given to the players.
-Must be IN CALL and communicating 15-30 minutes before official matches
-Schedule conflicts are your responsibility to reschedule matches with your teammates.
-Repeated tardiness/lack of communication about reschedules (3 minor/1 major) will lead to benching/removal from the team.
(If you make the team I will work with you and your team to find days that work for everyone so no one has overlaps in their schedule)

*Registration Process:
-Join the GMU Esports group on Mason360 and register for the event here (this webpage)
-Join the GMU Esports discord (https://discord.gg/gmuesports) for the tryouts

*Team & Competition Information:
-The main competitions the Rocket League teams will compete in are Collegiate Rocket League/CCA Opens, MAEC, NACE Fall 2024, and Collegiate Conference Series (Atlantic 10).
Rank estimates for each team:
-Team A (George Mason Patriots): Premier or "Varsity" competitive team, comprised of SSL+ MMR players and are expected to maintain that level of play throughout the semester
-Team B (George Mason Academy): Non-premier or "Junior Varsity" competitive team, comprised of regularly GC2 or higher players

*Tryout Process:
-Tryouts will be a 1-2 day process:
-Tryouts will be in-house style with multiple lobbies being played with at least 1 spectator/evaluator in each game. This will give us an idea of where players should be placed and cuts will be made after this day. If there isn't a clear roster I'd like to go with after day 1, then I will most likely bring people in for a 2nd day. I will make sure everyone can make the 2nd day.
-Team Manager and Advisory Board Members will congregate privately and share their analyses and recommendations
-Teams will be posted later that night.

*Team Structure:
-Patriots/Varsity will have 3 starters with 1 substitute
-Academy/JV will have 3 starters with 1/2 substitute(s)
