We are less than a week from the Fall Career Fair coming up October 8 and 9! But there's still plenty of time to get ready. What's the secret to making a great first impression on employers? Confidently introduce yourself to them! Here's how...
Tip #2´©ÅÔâú Get Ready to Introduce Yourself
Introducing yourself at a career fair is your opportunity to quickly communicate who you are and what opportunities you're seeking. A clear, thoughtful statement will help employers get to know you and get the conversation started.
Your introduction, also known as a personal pitch, should focus on the basics: your name, what you're studying, your key interests, and your goal for the fair (like getting an internship or a job).
Keep it short by sticking to a limit of 50 words, or less. And if you plan to meet with more than one employer at the fair, be sure to slightly tailor your introduction for each conversation.
Pro-tip: Keep your written introduction in a text file so you can copy and paste it into the chat, or to use as a script to remind you what to say when you join an employer's booth.
