The purpose of this organization is to promote lung cancer screening for people who are at high risk of developing lung cancer. Members will be given the opportunity to educate local community members and guide high risk individuals toward available lung cancer screening treatments.

The Food Recovery Network at George Mason University (FRN GMU) seeks to recover leftover food from George Mason University’s dining halls, catering events, and food service venues and transport this surplus food safely to feed community members in need. The organization relies on student volunteers to help transport the food, increasing their awareness of issues of food waste and hunger. We also seek to raise awareness on campus about food waste, with the goal of reducing food waste as much as possible and promoting sustainability. Finally, we seek to recover food without inconveniencing or disturbing the proceedings of George Mason University’s dining services employees.

The mission of Global Action In Nursing (GAIN) at George Mason University is to bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world health challenges. We exist to empower students to gain a broader perspective on health disparities, take tangible action through ethical service, and advance the role of nursing leadership in an interconnected world.

No Fees: No dues, fees, or any cost will be bestowed on any member or attendee of GAIN and GAIN events. There is no financial barrier to participate or be a member of GAIN, as GAIN values your time, participation, and status.

Clinical Skills: Access to exclusive "Outbreak Simulations" and field medicine workshops, kit building, collaboration with GAIN @ UCSF on events, workshops, etc. Enjoy guest speakers such as board-certified nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and other allied healthcare members as well as health IT, tech, and other interrelated fields. Practice learning, hearing, and evaluating different aspects of health within the bounds allowed by GMU and Federal/State Law.

To provide a safe space for the healing of sexual & domestic violence victims. We are here to rewrite the story given to victims of SA & DA. As victims, we are told we are survivors but here at Medusa, we believe we can do more than survive in life. We can thrive.

Medusa also believes in education to instill prevention. Awareness has been the main focus of sexual assault and domestic abuse advocacy. But we understand that awareness is only the first step, we know to create a difference and stop violence we must educate as well. While the club is open to all students, it is particularly geared toward pre-health majors, including pre-med, pre-dental, pre-PA, pre-pharmacy, nursing, ophthalmology, and more. We currently have six executive board members, all of who are pursuing paths in these fields. The primary goal of this organization is to offer mentorship/support to members as they navigate their pre-health paths. While also providing opportunities to enhance their applications through volunteer events and other professional development activities. Events to strengthen applications such as suturing workshops, mock interview workshops, food packaging for community shelters, basic medical supply kits, exam strategy workshops, meditation meeting before exams weeks, volunteer for mobile medical trucks, and medical professional Q&A panel. ETC.
