The Food Recovery Network at George Mason University aims to recover leftover food from George Mason University's dining halls, catering events, and food service venues and transport this otherwise food waste safely to places who feed people in need; use student volunteers to help transport the food, increasing their awareness to issues of food waste and hunger; raise awareness on campus about food waste, with a goal of reducing food waste as much as possible; and to recover food without inconveniencing or disturbing the proceedings of George Mason University's dining services employees.

Medusa also believes in education to instill prevention. Awareness has been the main focus of sexual assault and domestic abuse advocacy. But we understand that awareness is only the first step, we know to create a difference and stop violence we must educate as well. MAPS was originally founded at GMU in the Fall of 2012 and has just recently been re-established starting Fall of 2015. As an organization we have gathered and motivated students interested in medicine to pursue their desired professions. MAPS encourages students to network and seek experiences necessary to succeed in the healthcare field. In addition to our monthly meetings, we have speakers, resume clinics, and the opportunity to attend health conferences around the DC Area and nationwide.

The purpose of this organization is to fundraise for the highly-reputed volunteer-based nonprofit medical service organization called Operation Smile, which is geared towards providing safe treatment for children with facial deformities like cleft lips and palates worldwide and spreading awareness about these conditions. Though it is located in Richmond, VA, Operation Smile is an organization that has provided national, and international care solely based on volunteer help and it has been able to provide care for cleft lips and palates in over 30 countries globally. Since the success of this national organization is based heavily on volunteers and fundraisers by all sorts of volunteers and student organizations, the Operation Smile club at George Mason University will be geared towards fundraising money for this non-profit organization so there can be further outreach of their ability to provide surgeries for facial deformities in children in more parts of the world where these services are not necessarily well funded or prioritized in the healthcare system.
