
Fed’s 50 Basis Point Rate Cut Signals Aggressive Push for Economic Growth
One of the most anticipated moments of the year happened this past Wednesday, with the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates for the first time since 2020. Different entities in the market speculated whether the cut would be the more traditional 25 basis points (bp) or a more radical 50 basis points, with the actual cut being 50 bp, or 0.50%.. A rate cut has been expected since the beginning of the year following strong signs of economic recovery in the last quarter of 2023, inspiring high market optimism.

Devastating Antitrust Verdicts Against Google
The tech goliath Google took two massive blows from the slingshot of antitrust laws from both the U.S. and the EU since the start of August. On August 5th, U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta passed a guilty verdict stating Google violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act, judging Google as having monopolized the general search services market and general search text advertising market.
