Career Fair Tip 4: Get Camera-Ready

 Career Fair

Today is Day 1 of the Spring Career Fair! Our fourth and final tip will help you get ready to meet employers on video chat!

Tip #4´©ÅÔâú Get Camera-Ready

Meeting employers is one of the main reasons to attend a career fair. Do these three things before the fair and you’ll feel confident joining a video chat with any employer:

  1. Camera height: If you’re using a laptop, prop it up on a stack of books or laptop stand to get the camera up to eye-level. This is a more natural angle for having conversation and will help avoid casting shadows over your face.
  2. Attire: When choosing your outfit, think about the color of the wall behind you and the lighting in the room. You want to be visible during the video chat, so wear something that contrasts with your background. BTW, still not sure what to wear? Check out our Workwear Pinterest board for inspiration!
  3. Dress Rehearsal: Put on your career fair outfit and practice introducing yourself to a friend or family member in a Zoom chat. They'll let you know if you need to tidy your space, swap your blazer, or fix your microphone.

You’ve got this! Career Services staff will be on the career fair platform with you. Stop by our information booth if you have any questions or want to practice your introduction.
