Details

Dr. Maria Wilkins, Pre-Health Advisor, will lead a comprehensive session on all aspects of the pre-health pathway. She wiill review application requirements, prerequisite coursework strategies for becoming a competitive applicant, community service expectation, and available resources, including the Pre-health website. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session.

Dr. Maria Wilkins (she/her) received her bachelor of science in biology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Immediately after, she continued her studies at Shenandoah University’s Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in the Northern Virginia area.

After receiving her doctorate in pharmacy degree, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings as a licensed pharmacist—hospital, community, and public health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was a front-line healthcare worker with the Fairfax County Health Department on the COVID-19 Response Team.

She now serves as the Health Professions Advising Coordinator at George Mason helping pre-health students on their journeys to health professional schools. Her goal is to make the process of applying to health professional schools more transparent and achievable for the diverse population of students at George Mason University.
