Fail Forward Week at George Mason University (October 5-9, 2026) is a campus-wide celebration of growth, resilience, and learning through experience. Through engaging events, honest conversations, and shared stories, the week aims to break the stigma around failure and empower the Mason community to take risks, learn from challenges, and move forward with confidence.

Metacognition refers to the awareness and ability of learners to assess their own learning process and develop effective study strategies. It’s about understanding how you learn and making intentional choices to improve your study habits.

During this workshop we will discuss the crucial role metacognition plays in student learning and achievement. You will learn specific techniques to enhance your metacognitive skills and discover how to identify gaps in your learning, set goals, and optimize your study methods. Finally, we will explore ways to use your performance on assessments to improve your learning strategies.
