Get ready to put your CAD skills to the test ⚙️💻

The SpeedCAD Competition, hosted by ASME and High Power Rocketry, is a fast-paced, head-to-head modeling challenge open to all students, not just mechanical engineers. Whether you’re new to CAD or a seasoned pro, there’s a division for you.

Location: Dewberry Hall, Johnson Center

The event is split into two sections so competitors can participate at the appropriate skill level:

Beginner Division (10:30–11:45 AM) -
Designed for students early in their CAD experience. Drawings will focus on core modeling concepts and techniques typically covered in ME 151, emphasizing strong fundamentals, accuracy, and efficient workflows.

Advanced Division (1:30–2:45 PM) -
Intended for experienced CAD users looking for a challenge. Drawings will reflect the complexity and techniques covered in ME 447, requiring quick thinking and precise modeling under time pressure.

The competition will consist of multiple rounds. The first two rounds are time-based, where all participants model the same part and are ranked by speed and correctness. The remaining rounds will be elimination-style, with the fastest accurate modelers advancing until one competitor earns the title of Fastest CAD Modeler.

What to Bring:
Participants must bring their own laptop/computer and any necessary CAD software or accessories needed to compete.

Come compete, sharpen your skills, and see how you stack up in this high-energy CAD showdown!
