Mid-Autumn Festival with NVIS

Our Trung Thu (Mid-Autumn Festival) celebration is an interactive 2-to-3-hour cultural event. The event features a hands-on lantern decorating activity where participants can customize pre-assembled lantern frames. Attendees will enjoy traditional mooncakes while participating in a cultural trivia game via Kahoot to gain more knowledge about this special traditional festival. The celebration will involve a traditional lantern procession around the Johnson Center (JC). We will also have a custom photobooth decorated with hanging lanterns for attendees to capture memories.
This event directly supports our mission by preserving and actively sharing Vietnamese cultural heritage. Trung Thu is traditionally a time for community gathering and celebrating the harvest. By hosting this festival, eating traditional foods, and organizing a lantern walk, we recreate that essential "home away from home" for international students while showcasing our rich traditions.
