Registered Student Organizations - Volunteer/Service, Health/Wellness
Website Mission
Mission The purpose of this organization is to fundraise for the highly-reputed volunteer-based nonprofit medical service organization called Operation Smile, which is geared towards providing safe treatment for children with facial deformities like cleft lips and palates worldwide and spreading awareness about these conditions. Though it is located in Richmond, VA, Operation Smile is an organization that has provided national, and international care solely based on volunteer help and it has been able to provide care for cleft lips and palates in over 30 countries globally. Since the success of this national organization is based heavily on volunteers and fundraisers by all sorts of volunteers and student organizations, the Operation Smile club at George Mason University will be geared towards fundraising money for this non-profit organization so there can be further outreach of their ability to provide surgeries for facial deformities in children in more parts of the world where these services are not necessarily well funded or prioritized in the healthcare system.
