University Life SciTech invites you to our next Sips & Scholars event, an opportunity to learn from inspiring professionals and scholars while connecting with your Mason community.
Our featured speaker, Doni Nolan, is George Mason University’s Greenhouse and Gardens Program Manager and a PhD researcher in the College of Science. Doni’s journey began with a master’s degree in agriculture and pest management from Virginia Tech, where her thesis on hydroponic microgreen production gained international recognition. At George Mason, she is a leader of sustainability efforts across campus from hydroponics and aquaponics systems to the Innovation Food Forest, pollinator gardens, and even research collaborations at the Forensic Science Research and Training Laboratory.
At this session, Doni will share her evolution as a scientist and urban farmer, her work addressing food insecurity, and the exciting research happening in farming and forensic sciences at George Mason. Students will also have the chance to sample campus-grown produce and enjoy plant-based appetizers, a coffee bar, and mocktails.
