How do different cultures understand privacy in the digital age? And what happens when A.I. systems collect, process, and store the data we share — often without our awareness?

In this session, we’ll explore cultural perspectives on privacy and examine how artificial intelligence challenges traditional boundaries around personal information. Together, we’ll discuss questions such as: Who owns your data? How do norms around privacy differ across societies? And what ethical dilemmas emerge when A.I. systems use our prompts and personal information to generate insights?

Come enjoy FREE international drinks and snacks at our next International Cafe! This iCafe we will be focusing on countries from the East and Southeast Asia region: China, Japan, The Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam! International Cafe (iCafe) is a student-led event centered around teas, snacks, crafts, games, and music from various countries, regions, or cultures. Learn about international cultures without leaving campus!

Learn about the demographics of international students at GMU, as well as terminologies that are often associated with international students, such as CPT, OPT and more.

Learn from international students on how to successfully pronounce their names and learn about cultural contexts. This session focuses on name pronunciation, such as Hindi, Chinese, Bangla, Arabic, and Korean.

Mason international students are invited to join Student Success Coaching and the Office of International Programs and Services for a Thanksgiving dinner! Connect with your peers and campus resources while enjoying a traditional American Thanksgiving meal. There will also be activities and opportunities to share your own fall traditions and goals!
