Health Professions Week 2024

Join several of the Pre-Health focused student organizations in our kickoff event for Health Professions Week! This social event will have photo opportunities with the George Mason statue (decorated in his white coat, scrub cap, and stethoscope for the week), tables featuring student organizations with a Pre-Health focus, and refreshments. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with other Pre-Health students and learn about their upcoming events!

As part of Health Professions Week, learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency using naloxone at this training event provided by GMU's Safety, Emergency, and Enterprise Risk Management (SEERM) department. Free naloxone will be provided to all registered participants.

Learn how to provide first aid to large volume bleeding and use a tourniquet at this training event provided by GMU's Safety, Emergency, and Enterprise Risk Management (SEERM) department. Registration is required. Free tourniquets will be provided to all registered participants.

This session will provide an overview of standardized admission exams (MCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE), including their structure, useful resources, and strategies to help you do your best! This event is in collaboration with Learning Services. Attendees will have the chance to win an MCAT test prep scholarship or a $25 Amazon gift card through a raffle.

Join us for Mason's 2nd annual Health Professions Program Fair! Connect with admissions representatives from over 30 health professional programs, including medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and more. This is a great way to learn about different healthcare career paths, academic requirements, and application processes. There will also be free lunch and giveaways!

This session will focus on developing and writing a strong personal statement for health professional school applications. We will cover what admission committees advise to do versus don't, as well as resources at George Mason that will be useful during the writing process. This event is in collaboration with the Office of Fellowships. Attendees will have the chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card through a raffle.

Enhance your suturing skills and learn about how to fund your education by serving in the military with the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). The session will begin with an overview of HPSP, followed by a Q&A, and then move into hands-on instruction and practice of basic suture techniques. Presented by the U.S. Army Medical Recruiters
