Our Focus

What are we & have we focused on?

We're always looking to create and provide opportunities that allow for enriching discussions, and more, on topics throughout education. We are also looking to grow our connection with select school districts through means of tutoring opportunities or collaborative activities. Having a focus on education reform is also where our attention is focused.

With our focus being on the aforementioned items, we have a few ways of achieving those goals:

  • Strong backing and support of our advisor, Jennifer Drake Patrick
  • Support of the College of Education and Human Development and other student organizations
  • Detailed vision plan created by our Chapter President and Executive Board
  • Implementation of two committees (On-Campus Affairs and Fairfax & Beyond)
  • Initiating a signature event, Conversations, which is achieved through Instagram lives every month with educators and leaders at Mason and beyond on select topics in the field of education
  • Monthly discussions on crucial topics in the field of education with general body members

Thus far, the Executive Board has ensured and achieved a focus on the following topics during the history of Educators Rising Collegiate. This list is still growing...

  • Adjusting to a New Form of Education
  • Teachers of Color Are Vital
  • The Importance of After-School Programs
  • How can leaders work to engage and support our youth?
  • Supporting Students with Disabilities
  • The Impact of Music Within Our Schools
  • What is a Good School?
  • Whose Truth Do We Teach?
  • Supporting Our Students During These Challenging Times
  • The Importance of Physical Education
  • Educational Technology: Are We There Yet?
  • Education in a Stressed Out Nation
